GIS for Local Government


This week I created a map book for our client Mr. Zuko. He was after a preliminary zoning report for a parcel and its adjacent area. Above is a picture of page 4 of my mapbook, displaying the actual parcel. After creating the map I was able to create a report summarizing the attributes that Mr. Zuko was looking for.

Here are some important facts:
 Townships are typically 6 square miles totaling 36 sections.
 Township is listed as N/S – Range is listed as E/W.
 Parcel numbers often (but not always) hold the key to STR (Section-Township-Range). In the state of Florida, each county is required include the STR within the description and attribute table.
